Doodletown, New York Is a Popular Destination for Visitors

Doodletown, New York is a village that was once part of an English settlement. As time passed, Doodletown became isolated from the rest of the town because of the high cliffs surrounding it. Eventually, the village became an out-of-the-way hamlet that was only visited by travelers who were heading out to the woods and mountains. Today, Doodletown is a quaint hamlet on the banks of the Hudson River where you can find some of the finest shopping, dining, and nightlife in Rockland County. More about Montrose, NY can be seen here.

When the Palisades Intermountain Park Commission purchased Doodletown in 1960, it was still an out-of-the-way hamlet on the banks of the Hudson River. The village had a population of a few hundred people, which made it the poorest village in Rockland. Since then, though, its fortunes have changed dramatically. Today, Doodletown is a bustling village with several restaurants and shops that cater to the tourist market, but it is also known as a great place for nature lovers. Located near the Hudson River, Doodletown is situated just six miles from the city of New York City and its suburbs, making it a convenient destination for both residents and tourists alike. The Village Inn, which was once the site of the Village Green, serves all sorts of foods and drinks and even offers live music in the evenings.
